How to Apply

Individuals who live DOWN the Hamilton Mountain can apply through the Hamilton Housing Help Centre via the
following methods. If you live ON the Mountain, please call Neighbour to Neighbour at 905-574-1334.

1. Online: Please email fsp@housinghelpcentre.ca for an application. Please specify what you are
                  looking for assistance with and your source of income.








3. Phone: Call the Housing Help Centre for help accessing the application or if you have questions
                  regarding how to complete it. Call (905) 526-8100

4. In-person (currently not available): Complete the application in-person with a Financial Support
Housing Worker at the Housing Help Centre.

Please Note:
• We request you call before coming to the Housing Help Centre.
• In order for a Financial Support Housing Worker to complete the application process, we request you
   bring all the proper documentation.
• We request that only one person per household is allowed to come to the Housing Help Centre. If you
   need accommodation, please call (905) 526-8100.
2. Mail-in/Fax-in: You can mail or fax in a completed application to the Housing Help Centre.

What to submit after completing an application?

Please send in the following support documentation:

1. Verification of your last 30 days household income.  Whatever documentation you provide must
include the name of the income recipient.

2. A notice from your electricity provider that is beyond the bill (Example: Past Due, Arrears, Collections or
Disconnection notice).

3. Two pieces of ID for the account holder and one piece of ID for everyone else in the household.

4. Verification of your rent or mortgage payment.


Program Information

Alectra Utilities Corporation assists qualifying customers who are experiencing difficulties paying their energy bills through the Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP).

Residential customers may be eligible for emergency financial assistance to apply against their electrical bill through the Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP). LEAP is funded by Horizon Utilities.
Program Criteria

Families and individuals needing financial assistance to pay their heating and electricity bills can determine their eligibility as a low-income consumer at a local community agency. People with low income must fall under what’s called the “Low Income Cut Off”. Please see the chart below.


The Low-Income Cut off is as follows:

1 person $0 - $38,000
2 persons $38,001 - $54,000
3-4 persons $54,001 - $65,000
5+ persons $65,001 - $71,000
